Rotomolding, or rotational molding, is a versatile and cost-effective alternative to traditional fabrication methods. Powdered resin is put inside the mold, which is sealed securely. It’s rotated prior to heating to ensure a tight seal, then heated while the mold is rotated. This helps maintain a uniform thickness and increases durability because stress points are avoided. This really opens up the design options, as rotomolding is perfectly suited for complex and even very large structures. The surfaces can be molded smoothly, with intricate surface textures or even logos and graphics, banishing the need for labels. Fabricating in a rotomolder creates less waste, making it the sustainable choice for the environment.
Polyethylene and other Resins
There are several resins that can be used for rotomolding, but the majority of our products use polyethylene. Polyethylene has many benefits, particularly when working with large structures such as vehicles and containers. It has a high impact resistance, which makes it extremely durable. Polyethylene is also resistant to corrosion by oxidation and other chemicals. This makes it ideal for structures that have to be outside for long periods of time.
It’s also easy to clean, a big advantage that saves time and eliminates the cost of specialist cleaning products. Soap and water work just fine.
Rotomolding allows us to create parts that are either extremely rigid or highly flexible, depending on the needs of the project. This makes it far more versatile than traditional fabrication methods.
As well as polyethylene, we have many other materials to offer. We also mold using rigid and flexible Polyvinyl chloride (PVC), Polypropylene, Cross-Linked, Nylon and much more. Specific additives and color matching can be blended in the material to meet your project requirements.
Foam Filling
Rotomolding allows us to create products filled with foam inside a solid, outer, molded shell. Dutchland’s experienced and dedicated foam department deals with both rigid and flexible foam, offering solutions for insulation, structural needs and cushioning.
Metal Inserts
Rotomolding makes the assembly process a whole lot easier. Metal threads, internal pipes and other necessary inserts can actually be added prior to the molding process, so they become an integral part of the finished product.
Mold In Graphics
Stickers and labels deteriorate eventually, which doesn’t look great and can even be dangerous if they carry a safety warning. At Dutchland, we can mold your text, logo, barcode or graphic straight onto the product for a professional finish that lasts.
Surface Finishes
